“Therapy works best when both people know what to expect. These terms are here to make that as clear as possible — so we can get on with the work.”

The Therapeutic Relationship

Tehira Taylor Therapy offers integrative psychotherapy on a private, self-funded basis. Sessions are conducted online via a secure video platform. The relationship between therapist and client is professional and boundaried, and is governed by the BACP Ethical Framework, available at bacp.co.uk.

How I Work

My approach is integrative and deeply relational. Sessions are a space for reflection, insight, felt experience and embodied awareness. Where appropriate, I may gently invite you to bring attention to breath, sensation or bodily experience as part of our work. Nothing is ever required or obligatory.

I draw on psychodynamic, person-centred, Gestalt and existential approaches, adapting the work to your individual needs. I am committed to inclusive, anti-discriminatory practice and work sensitively with issues of identity, culture, power and difference.

Sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and take place at an agreed regular time, usually weekly. Sessions are delivered online via Doxy.me or Zoom; links are provided ahead of each appointment. Clients must be physically located within the United Kingdom at the time of each session due to insurance requirements.

Fees & Payment

The current fee is £65 per 50-minute session. Payment is required by bank transfer at least 72 hours in advance of each session. Bank details are provided separately. Fees are reviewed periodically; reasonable notice will be given of any changes. If payment is not received within the stated timeframe, the session may be cancelled and charged in line with the cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please give at least 72 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 72 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will be charged at the full session fee. Where possible, I will offer an alternative time within the same week.

Lateness

Sessions begin at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the agreed time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the session will be charged but not conducted, as the remaining time would not allow for effective therapeutic work.

Duration of Therapy

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. Duration depends on your needs, goals and circumstances and is reviewed regularly — typically every 12 weeks. If you wish to end therapy, I ask for at least two weeks’ notice to support a considered and planned ending.

Contact Between Sessions

Contact between sessions is for practical matters only — scheduling and payment — and should be made by email. I aim to respond within 48 hours, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Therapy is not an emergency service. If you need urgent support between sessions, please contact emergency services (999), your GP, NHS 111, or the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24 hours).

Online Working & Technology

Online sessions require a stable internet connection, a suitable device, and a private space where you will not be overheard or interrupted. Sessions must not be recorded by either party without explicit mutual agreement. If technical difficulties occur, we will attempt to reconnect; if this is not possible, I will contact you by email to discuss next steps.

Confidentiality

Everything discussed in therapy is held in strict confidence. There are limited exceptions:

In all but the most urgent circumstances, I will discuss any potential breach with you before taking action. I attend regular clinical supervision with a BACP-accredited supervisor; no identifying information is ever shared.

Record Keeping & Data Protection

I keep brief, factual session notes stored securely. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Anonymised notes are retained for 7 years after the final session; personal contact information is retained for 2 years then securely destroyed. Your data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Full details are in my Privacy Policy.

Social Media & Public Encounter

I do not accept personal connection requests from current or former clients on personal social media platforms. You are welcome to follow my professional accounts. If we meet in public, I will not acknowledge you unless you choose to do so first.

Safeguarding

If you disclose risk to yourself or others, we will explore a safety plan and appropriate support options together. You may be encouraged to share details of a trusted person or GP for safeguarding purposes.

Complaints

I welcome feedback and encourage you to raise concerns with me directly. If a concern cannot be resolved, you may contact the BACP (Register No: 419262) via their formal complaints procedure at bacp.co.uk.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Any material changes will be communicated to existing clients before taking effect.

A full therapeutic agreement — including your personal details, signatures and a copy for your records — will be provided before your first session begins.
